VoIP

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol, or IP telephony, is a technology that enables you to make ordinary telephone calls over a computer network or the Internet. VoIP converts the data signals from your telephone into digital signals and sends these signals in packets over the Internet. It then converts them back on the other end, allowing you to speak to anyone with a telephone.

Today, companies use VoIP technology to reduce or eliminate long-distance costs and connect remote or home-based employees to their telephone systems. These remote workers can then make and receive calls as if they were working on-site. Connecting to them becomes as easy as dialing the extension of the person in the very next office.

Thanks to Toshiba's "No customer gets left behind" migration strategy, users of older Toshiba systems such as Strata DK or Strata CTX can migrate to the new Strata CIX with a simple processor and software upgrades. Much of the existing equipment such as the telephones, interface and option cards, and Stratagy voicemail can be reused.
